Why use BuildWise?

Running short halfway through a pour or a paint job costs you a second trip, a mismatched batch, or concrete that sets before the rest arrives. Buying far too much wastes money on material you can't return. BuildWise calculators turn your measurements into the amount you actually need to buy, with a sensible allowance for waste, spills and cuts, and show every step so you can check the math yourself.

Where to start

  • Pouring a patio, shed base or walkway? The concrete calculator gives cubic yards and bag counts, and tells you when ready-mix delivery makes more sense.
  • Repainting a room? The paint calculator subtracts doors and windows and tells you how many gallons and quarts to buy.
  • New floors? The flooring calculator rounds up to whole boxes and adds the right waste for straight, diagonal or herringbone layouts.
  • Landscaping? The gravel and mulch calculator converts area and depth into cubic yards, tons and bags.
  • Finishing a basement or garage? The drywall calculator counts sheets, screws, tape and mud.

Measuring tips that apply to every project

  • Measure twice, in the same units. Mixing inches and feet is the most common cause of a wrong order.
  • Split odd shapes into rectangles. Calculate each part separately and add the results together.
  • Round up, not down. A little extra material is cheap insurance; running out mid-job is not.
